Course Description

Innovation practices can be learned and applied to many different types of CPA meetings, whether they're with your internal team members and/or external clients. Idea generation needs to be guided by a leader who can encourage all participants to contribute, and guide the development of fresh new ideas. It takes skill to engage others to think creatively and push beyond their usual train of thought.

This course teaches participants to follow the four founding pillars of brainstorming:

1. Deferring judgment

2. Generating lots of ideas

3. Encouraging unusual ideas

4. Combining ideas

Topics in the brainstorming program include; how to set up a room for the brainstorming, what to do when ideas have stopped flowing, how to decide on the results and what should be done after a brainstorming is complete. Through interactive videos, games and talks participants are shown best practices of brainstorming and what roadblocks to avoid.

Intended Learning Outcomes:

  • This course offers tools and strategies to set up for a creative idea generating session, encourage participants to become more engaged, how to get the group to move beyond roadblocks and what to do with the materials after the brainstorming session is complete.
